This week, I thought it may be useful to answer some common questions about How To Grad School, and end with an option for you to ask me questions you have about grad school!
Who is behind How To Grad School?
My name is Sarah Davis and I founded How To Grad School after I completed my PhD in 2020. I knew that I wanted to seek self-employment after defending my dissertation, and based on my experiences in grad school and hearing stories from so many other grad students, I decided to focus on bring effective learning strategies to grad students to help them succeed. You can read more about me here.
What kind of help do you offer?
How To Grad School has lots of free resources - this blog, the podcast, and the newsletter. I also offer individual counselling for grad students who are physically located in BC. You can find out more on my counselling website here.
What kinds of topics are talked about?
All the topics I talk about in How To Grad School are based on my FLOW Framework, which distills heaps of educational psychology research, theory, and practice into bite-sized, manageable ways so you can make use of them right away. Topics range from self-efficacy to time management to emotion regulation to self-regulated learning. You can sort the blog posts by tags to read more about topics that are of interest to you.
What if I have a question about being in grad school?
I hope that you'll consider submitting a question to the podcast! I recommend you take a listen to a few episodes to get a sense of what questions we choose for the podcast. You can submit your question here and learn what I will offer you in exchange for reading your question on the podcast.
I hope these few questions helped you understand more about what I do to help you succeed in grad school. If you'd like to chat more, you can always reach out by email: howtogradschool@sarahdavisconsulting.ca
